Upon the completion of the study programme, graduates will be able to:
- use fluent Polish in communicating orally and in written; to produce different kinds of texts;
- understand, analyze and evaluate different kinds of texts (for example, journalistic, literary, informational and others);
- recognize the works of major authors from different cultural periods and texts from different genres with their characteristic styles;
- explain Polish cultural features and relate these to historical contexts;
- understand the principal ideas expressed in some major current linguistic and literary theories, and apply them in practice;
- analyze major strategies used in translation and apply them in practice;
- use the most recent methods in teaching and studying Polish language and literature, to select and use the possibilities offered by information technology in teaching;
- apply in other spheres of activity the competences gained in carrying out scholarly research work and the correct presentation of research results.

Programme structure

Professional internships are carried out in Polish-language schools in Vilnius. Students acquire practical skills while getting familiar with educational institutions’ activities, its resources, results and teachers’ working conditions. They analyse teacher’s and students’ work, students’ needs, gain practical skills in teaching, take part in the real educational problem solving, prepare their own educational projects.

Students have a possibility to take part in various exchange programmes (Bilateral exchange, Erasmus+) for studies and traineeships abroad and get monthly scholarship.

Career opportunities

The graduates of SUBJECT PEDAGOGY: POLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE will become specialists, capable of working in a variety of fields. They will satisfy the educational, academic, cultural, economic and other needs of the workplace and will be capable of carrying out intellectual and cultural work independently.
The graduates can expect to continue their career by:
• teaching Polish language and literature in schools;
• working as cultural animators, translators;
• working in Polish-language media;
• taking employment in public institutions and various organizations which need staff members with good knowledge of Polish;
• entering Master studies;
• continuing their studies in the way they decide.
